About Us
Meet Buen Vecino
Building a stronger, more inclusive Ventura County one neighbor at a time since 2016.
Our Story
The Beginning
Buen Vecino was created by everyday people who turned to action to protect one another.
In 2016, neighbors in Newbury Park gathered to envision an organization that stands with the working class, immigrants, people of color, LGBTQ individuals, and other marginalized groups. They committed to addressing their community’s needs—and to being good neighbors. So, Buen Vecino—’Good Neighbor’—was born.
Our Approach
Steps Toward Change
No magic–just elbow grease.
Buen Vecino builds citizen power door by door to tackle the root causes of inequity in Ventura County. From housing and immigrant rights to participatory democracy, our work is driven by a clear vision for justice and inclusion and a commitment to bringing meaningful change to the community.

How We Work
Centering community needs to create meaningful change.
We focus on the issues that matter most to our neighbors—defending immigrant rights, advancing justice, and fostering democracy—while prioritizing the voices and needs of those impacted by systemic inequities.
-
Immigrant Rights
How we stand with VC’s immigrant community members.
We bring immigrant voices to the forefront, providing tools, legal aid, advocacy, and translation support to keep all of our immigrant neighbors safe and back meaningful reform.
